Akshay Kumar has sung a devotional song NIRGUN LAAKH LEEYA for a Punjabi Album. The song which had been shot near the golden temple in Amritsar is dedicated to the victims of the recent bomb blast that rocked Mumbai. Akshay Kumar has pledged all proceeds from the album to the victims of the blast.
Incidentally Akshay has a huge following amongst the Punjabis in India & abroad. It had been in his mind for a quite some time to sing a devotional song in Punjabi. Akshay will also star in the video as well which is shot by Ajay Kumar and Sanjukta.
Says Akshay, "This album is close to my heart for obvious reasons. It was always at the back of my mind to sing a devotional song. This is a realization of my heart felt desire. I would like to dedicate this video to all those who lost their lives that fateful day. Its quite sad when something like this happen. Trust me, No religion preaches violence...so spread the word and keep the faith."
Akshay has always been associated with causes close to his heart. Besides being a 'Good Heart Ambassador' he is also the Brand Ambassador for 'Special Olympics.' Even when he was the distributor for 'WAQT' in the Mumbai territory which reaped in huge profits, Akshay donated the entire sum to the Trillium Hospital in Toronto.
Below is a special note from Akshay Kumar:
Mumbai . The city that never sleeps. On 11 July, hundreds slept their last sleep. Even as their families stayed awake waiting for them to return . Some are still waiting!
This video is dedicated to all those who lost their lives that fateful day and to their families who still canÂt sleep.
This is a wake up call for the entire nation. LetÂs put our hands together and pray for peace.
No religion preaches violence. So...Spread the word keep the faith.
