2006 has been an year of Art films in Malluwood. This statement applies only to the number of releases and not in their values as commercial successes. Out of 25 films released till June, 30 percent of the films can be branded as not of commercial genre. But the pathetic result that always follows these films were also evident as all of them sink without a trace in the Box Office.

The year started with 'Mukhamariyaahe' which didn't last in theatres for two days.

What followed was 'Achanurangatha Veedu'- last year's award winner which also didn't make merry with the Masses.

Then saw Out Of Syllabus, Churattakalippattangal by Jose Thomas, Pulijanmam, Nottam and Ammathottil, in the last few months --some of which that won rave reviews still didn't make it better with the masses.

As the era of busy entertainment schedules is rolling in for potential viewers, serious film buffs are making merry following film festivals and not individual releases in theatres.
