Eros Multimedia Pvt. Ltd. today announces its foray into music publishing with the launch of its first music title – Omkara.

Omkara, which is an adaptation of the Shakespearean classic "Othello", is one of the most awaited films of this year. It boasts a multi starcast of Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu and Naseeruddin Shah.

Boasting of a rustic flavor, 'Omkara' has lyrics by Gulzar and music by Vishal Bharadwaj, who has also given his direction to the film. Vishal has achieved great repute with cult scores like Maachis, Satya and Chachi 420. Film Omkara is anticipated to be a mega hit of the year.

Vishal Bharadwaj is fascinated with Shakespearian drama and one of his finest works is his interpretation of Shakespeare's Macbeth – Maqbool. Omkara stays true to the central theme of Othello whilst humanizing Shakespeare's characters with the necessary folklore and ethnic charm that is required for a contemporary Indian story setting.

"Omkara has a North Indian flavour running through the film. So all the songs had to have the fragrance of UP. That was my primary concern." said Vishal. "The songs had to be in tandem with the script and at an unconscious level, needed to transport the audience right into the farmlands of UP, to actually feel the red dust that blows through the land".

Being a leading content distributor with a large international presence, Eros now vertically integrates one step further by moving into music publishing. Last year it ventured into movie production with its first co-production Waqt. Many more production ventures are in the pipeline according to Sunil Lulla.
