As the music of 'Gangster' released this weekend, the music lovers got to hear some excellent melodies by Pritam. But are you aware about numerous behind the scenes happening that made the music of 'Gangster' what is it today? We bring to you some of this interesting trivia, exclusively at IndiaGlitz.
A new singer James sings 'Bheegi Bheegi' in the film. A famous Bangladeshi singer, James has not created this song. Instead he has just re-sung an old song by Gautamda which Pritam [composer] and Anurag Basu [director] sang during their college days. They took the rights of the song from Gautamdas wife who gave them a go ahead for it. Thats when Mayur wrote it in Hindi. Incidentally both Pritam and Anurag loved James but couldnt find him anywhere. Also, he can neither understand English nor knows a single word of Hindi. So the song was written in Bangla script for him.
Inspite of this, James couldnt sing last minute as he was just not comfortable singing in a new city with new people around and at a new location altogether. So Pritam and his team got him drunk, so that he was not inhibited. And the result is for every one to hear!!
The other song of the album, 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai', too has a story behind it. Three years back Pritam had recorded this song with dummy lyrics - 'Nasha Nasha'. As Pritam is obsessed with words 'Nasha', every songs dummy lyrics have Nasha. But then Sayed Quadri came with really great lyrics. Anurag sums it up by saying, 'We simply shed Nasha!'
For the song 'Ali Ali', another new singer Zubin was roped in. Originally Kailash Kher was approached as a singer for this song. But his voice was too tired when he came for recording, and this is when Zubin, a singer from Assam, stepped in to sing the same.
Produced by Bhatts, who have been known for their musical hits all along, 'Gangster' introduces two new singers James and Zubin. The world knows that the Bhatts have been trend setters musically. Whether it is Kumar Sanu or Nadeem Shravan - they have reached the pinnacle of their success when associated with the Bhatts (remember 'Aashique', 'Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin', 'Sadak' to name a few?). Then Aamir Khan too sang a song for the first time with them ('Aati Kya Khandala' - Ghulam). Kunal Ganjawala became a household name with 'Bheege Hoth Tere' [Murder] while number of other singers/bands like Aamir Jamal [Kaho Na Kaho - Murder], Aatif and Jal too have gained popularity worldwide after working with the Bhatts. And now its the turn of James, Javad and Zubin!
