After celebrating Deepavali at Sivakasi along with the workers at the match factories, actor Vijay chose to celebrate Pongal with farmers at Nemam, a village which is just 50 kilometers from Chennai.

Vijay clad in silk dhoti and a silk shirt reached Nemam village Saturday morning to witness a rousing welcome by the villagers.

He held discussions about his movies with the villagers and visited several houses.

This hot shot actor among the producers and distributors, took time off to interact with womenfolk in the village and even got down on to the field where he indulged in harvesting crops.

Not far behind Vijay was Suriya.

He chose to celebrate Pongal at his native place Sulur in Coimbatore district with the villagers. He visited various temples and even tried his hand at making sweet Pongal on the occasion.

Both the actors celebrating the harvest festival in different villages would be telecast on different Tamil satellite channel on Pongal day.
