Age has not deterred the enthusiasm in director K Balachander.

The veteran director who has wielded the megaphone for over 100 films besides winning several National awards, is currently busy directing Poi, a youthful entertainer for his protege Prakash Raj.

The otherwise calm director who let his films do the talking has opened out on the film. The movie is titled Poi which means lie. ‘In life we encounter so many lies in many forms.

From a philosophical angle, one could call them true lies. This is the crux of the movie’, he says. Starring Tollywood hero Uday Kiran and NRI Vimala Raman, Balachander says, 'There is something new in the way I have handled the screenplay.

I am satisfied with the way things have gone so far. In the current scenario of love stories, Poi has an individuality all its own.'

Balachander is also happy that his find Prakash Raj is producing the film.
