Close on the heels of Vijayakanth taking the political plunge, it's now the turn of actor Karthik to follow suit.

According to sources close to Karthik, the actor would hold a mega rally quite similar to Vijayakanth's on 30 October in Theni where he would announce his political plans.

Karthik, who was considered down and out from the industry following a series of allegations over his conduct, tried to stage a comeback by forming a social service organization called Saranalayam, which he plans to convert into a political outfit now.

Karthik acting career is now going nowhere. None of his promised films are getting released. A certain kind of jinx is now associated with him.

So it is just the right moment for him to make his political moves.

Karthik belongs to a dominant community in South Tamil Nadu. This community has some other popular stars like Vivek, Arun Pandian, Senthil and even S J Suryah in its fold. These actors had recently attended community functions down South.

Now the question is this group forging together a political identity?
