Surya shines, Cheran sizzles

His last film, Mayavi, may have bit the dust at the box office. But now Surya has something to smile about.

He has bagged the best actor's award in the 52nd annual Filmfare Awards for Tamil films announced in Chennai Friday.

He won the award for his excellent portrayal in the film Perazhagan. Meanwhile, Cheran's Autograph has won four awards and debutante Sandhya has bagged the best Actress award for her film Kadhal.

Cheran won the award for best direction. The award for the best music director was shared between Bharadwaj (Autograph) and Yuvan Shankar Raja (7G Rainbow Colony). Other awards in Tamil includes:

1.Best Film - Autograph
2.Best Director- Cheran (Autograph)
3.Best Actor- Surya (Perazhagan)
4.Best Actress -Sandhya (Kadhal)
5.Best Music director -Yuvan Shankar Raja (7G Rainbow Colony), Bharadwaj (Autograph)
6.Best Supporting actor ---Madhavan (Ayutha Ezhuthu)
7.Best Supporting actress---Mallika (Autograph)
8.Best Villain- Prakash Raj (Gilli)
9.Best Comedian- Vivek (Perazhagan)
10.Best newcomer- Ravi Krishna (7-G Rainbow Colony)
11.Best Choreographer- Raju Sundaram (Gilli)

The awards would be presented by the end of this month at a grand function to be held in Hyderabad.
