Govinda's newfound status as MP hasn't made the business of releasing a film easier, but the actor turned politician isn't one to give up easily and has involved his entire family in the distribution of his "Ssukh".
The forthcoming "Ssukh" (note the numerological addition of 'S') will see Govinda's entire family taking the plunge in the distribution business with established distributors reluctant to offer promising terms for the film.
Govinda's brother Kirti Ahuja, also the director of the film, will release the film in Mumbai, while his wife will do the honours in Kolkata. His nephew has also been roped in and Govinda himself will release the film in Delhi-Uttar Pradesh.
"I have put my whole family on the job of releasing the film since there was no alternative. I was not getting the expected terms from distributors and this seemed the only viable alternative. I have looked after the interests of my family all these years and it is their turn to do something for me now," Govinda said.
He added that the arduous task of producing and ensuring the release of the film hadn't dampened his spirits.
"It is an exciting feeling to release your home production. I had last released a film two years ago. It's like producing your own baby and introducing it to the rest of the world."
The actor described "Ssukh" as a musical and romantic comedy with an underlying social message. "My fans can be rest assured that my political image and the characters I play in films will never cause them undue embarrassment," he said.
Govinda was also excited about the fact that he had teamed up with close friend Chunkey Pandey after 12 years.
"When we met and shot for the film, it was much the same as it was 12 years ago. I told Chunkey that there are some things that never change over the years. I quite enjoyed the experience of working with him."
He revealed that he had decided to shift his career priorities to politics.
"I am not sure whether I'll make a film again. I have decided that I'd now like to serve the people more than anything else."
