Key accused in Delhi cinema blasts arrested

Jagtar Singh Hawara, chief of the Sikh extremist group Babbar Khalsa International, was arrested in Haryana Wednesday by Delhi Police for his alleged involvement in the twin cinema hall blasts here over two weeks ago.
Hawara was caught along with the alleged mastermind of the blasts, Jaspal Singh, and his associate Vikas Sehgal, Delhi Police Commissioner K.K. Paul said at a press conference here.
They were arrested from the Grand Trunk Karnal Road near the Narela industrial area at 6.15 a.m. Wednesday. They were planning to escape to Nepal, Paul said.
The three have been accused of involvement in the blasts in Liberty and Satyam theatres May 22, which killed one person and injured over 60.
Hawara was also involved in the assassination of Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. He had escaped from Burail Jail in January 2004 and carried a reward of Rs.500,000.
