Recreating a popular place is a difficult task says GK, who has recently erected a huge set replicating the busy Ranganathan Street in T Nagar at a sprawling 50 acres of ground at Vauhini Studios for Vijay starrer Sivakasi.

On the huge set, the art-director says a major portion of the movie occurs on the Ranganathan Street. "It is impossible to shoot the movie in such a busy area with Vijay.

Hence, the director Perarasu and producer A M Rathnam urged me to recreate Ranganathan Street. I immediately visited the place and studied with utmost care the tall buildings and shopping malls there.

Thus came the set here", he says pointing out the sets behind him.

There is more than a touch of realism in GK's efforts.

"All credit for that should go to producer A M Rathnam, who gave me enough liberty in erecting this huge set. He was keen on recreating the locality here.

I should thank all my staff who spent over a month with me in coming up with this structure. The richness can be certainly felt on the screen", he says.
