Balaji Shaktivel the director of Kadhal did some plain speaking at a students meet in Kovai. He said that Tamil cinema was facing some internal problems due to which a Mirnal Sen or a Satyajit Ray could not be found. He said that the formula of four fights and four songs has to change. Till then cinema will remain mediocre. He felt that story was the hero. He was not willing to write story for heroes. If they fitted his bill he was okay to cast them. Mumbai heroines were in demand because they were willing to do glamour felt Balaji.
