Surpassing Excellence No spoilers ahead, you can read this before watching 'PK'. There are 3 types of movie makers, one who want to please the audience, the second who want to please themselves to enjoy the art of making movies and third who chase box office numbers and money, but wait I am seeing Rajkumar Hirani moving beyond the conventional 3 types of movie makers and showing people, a movie watching experience can be something beyond all of this.

I would be lying if I hide the fact that, I actually was striking a conversation with the filmmaker through the movie. For the first time, I felt I was thinking, conversing, smiling, crying and enjoying the experience like never before inside a Cinema Theatre. The Last time, I came close to doing that was while watching, LAGAAN and BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG where the sporting excitement made me sit up, stand, clap and enjoy success with what was happening on screen.

A Camera work which does not boast of exotic visuals but yet beautiful to the eyes, a screenplay which is preachy but you never realize it, a story of fiction but hits hard at reality, music to merely move forward the proceedings, art work not showing up anywhere, actors making us feel that they are actually not acting and a director who is just happily conversing to his audience on screen, sums up the overall technical aspect of this film.

The Producer must be the happiest, since even a ZOOBIE DOOBIE Song or a Dream Sequence does not exist in the movie. Aamir Khan must have been super happy to act in such a role and improvise from all his previous efforts. Be it the character of BHUVAN not knowing to play cricket properly in LAGAAN or play a student RANCHO in 3 IDIOTS casually chasing excellence or the subtle classy AKAASH in DIL CHAATHA HAI or now P.K in PK, one thing is common, he is simply perfect in his act and you can`t ask for anything more out of the characters he has played.

2001 he played BHUVAN in LAGAAN and 2014 he plays P.K in PK, and in these 14 years he has evolved with every movie and showed one thing in common, responsibility to make good and better movies consistently and not get carried away by BOX OFFICE numbers and peer pressure in the industry.

The supporting cast of Anushka Sharma, Sushanth Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani And Parikshat Sahni are perfect and they all raise to the occasion and deliver their best. Anushka and Sushanth have shown, they can emote as good as the best ones out there. Saurabh Shukla can literally become a BABA when he gives up acting, he simply rocks his character.

Lastly, Rajkumar Hirani has shown us the following - He never makes a movie just for the sake of it and he is only trying to better himself every time. He can rationally preach more than holy books, and still keep you entertained and wanting more. He has created 3 brands - MUNNABHAI, 3 IDIOTS and now P.K which can entertain and enlighten for the years to come and he can always go back a make a new chapter with them when he wants to. He has reinvented the resurrected the fact of CINEMA - "CONTENT" is KING In Chasing excellence with RANCHO, now he has moved one step beyond with P.K.

Thank you Mr. Rajkumar Hirani and Mr. Aamir Khan for showing us what can be achieved when you chase excellence passionately. Plotline : GOD - How do I dial the right line to get to him? A Reality check on the current state of Humanity and its behavior if we are seen from an ALIEN point of view.

Conclusion: Celebrate Cinema with P.K at a theatre near you. No one can rate such a movie, rate yourself once you finish watching such a movie and possibly start dialing the right number or at least try to stop dialing the wrong number. Steven Spielberg to Shankar to Kamal Hassan to you and me, can take a leaf out of Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan in their quest for excellence...
