Many Telugu films, which revolve around Lord Shiva or having him as the main topic, have failed to create an impact at the box office. Some of them have faced problems during the shoots and during the release.

Some of the examples are NTR's 'Dakshayagnam', Chiranjeevi's 'Anji', 'Manjunatha', Mahesh Babu's 'Khaleja', Nagarjuna's 'Damarukam' etc. During the shoot of 'Dakshayagnam', NTR's son Ramakrishna passed away. 'Anji' faced many problems during the shoot and even after the release, the film didn't do well as expected at the box-office. 'Khaleja', which also had faced many hurdles during shooting, was not received well by the audiences.

The problems faced by 'Dhamarukam' for the release, wouldn't have been faced by any other Telugu film. The film was postponed multiple times as the producers have run into financial problems. Finally after the release, the movie turned out to be a disaster.

Now the latest film is 'Lingaa'. This film was made on a huge budget with a big star cast like Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Shetty etc. Many have filed cases against the film claiming that it is their story. After clearing all the hurdles, the film released today (Dec 12th) amid huge expectations. But it has received mixed response from the audiences.
