Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor who rose to fame with ROCK ON!! (2008) and KAI PO CHE (2013) is back in news for making a Hindi adaption of the classic English novel 'Great Expectations' written by legendary novelist Charles Dickens.
The movie titled FITOOR is in news because it features evergreen beauty Diva Rekha in an important role and secondly because it marks the debut of ghazal maestro Talat Aziz in Bollywood as an actor opposite none other but the legendary actress Rekha!
According to sources Rekha, who is very selective has signed the movie particularly because the character of Begum, which she portrays in the movie, is very close to heart. She plays the role of a lady who has been betrayed by her lover and later becomes instrumental in uniting the movie`s hero and heroine.
Since Rekha has been betrayed in love many times by her boyfriends hence she is ideal for the character of Begum aka Miss Havisham in the original novel.
Interestingly the actor who plays her fiancé is Talat Aziz, the handsome ghazal singer, who has to his credits many super hit ghazal like Zindagi jab bhi teri bazm mein...(UMRAO JAAN), Phir chhidi raat baat Phoolon ki..(BAZAAR) and the soul stirring Aaina mujhse meri...from Mahesh Bhatt`s classic DADDY
According to reports Talat Aziz was initially reluctant to play the role because he has never acted in films before. But Abhishek Kapoor cajoled the debonair looking gazal singer.
Readers may recollect it was Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor who had tapped the hidden actor in Farhan Akhtar in his move ROCK ON!! The movie not only became hit and fetched Farhan Akhtar a Filmfare Award but also ignited his passion for acting.
One wonders if history could repeat and this time it would prove a gold mine for ghazal maestro Talat Aziz!
