The weekend gone by was disastrous for the box office, as far as new releases are concerned. To keep it simple, films like Spark and Jigariyaa won't even compensate for the operational costs in the theaters where they were shown - they have turned out to be such huge disasters.

Tamanchey got the biggest releases of them all but the weekend collections stayed around the 1 crore mark. The film was promoted well but audience just didn't step in. In comparison Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami saw good reviews from most quarters, though poor opening day meant that revival was tough. With a 1 crore weekend, it would be a tough ride for the Anupam Kher led affair to see through the next 10 days till Happy New Year hits the screens.

With none of the new releases managing to make much of a dent at the box office (their combined collections were less than 5 crore), it was Bang Bang and Haider that enjoyed an extended run. While Bang Bang comfortably accumulated over 15 crore mark to cross the 155 crore mark, Haider brought in over 5 crore more in its kitty, hence resulting in over 50 crore being gathered. With one more open week ahead (Sonali Cable is the only notable release of the week), the two films would stay on to be the top choices for the cinegoers with Bang Bang accumulating most.
