'Shiva' completes 25 years

'Shiva', the film which has created history and which has changed the direction of Telugu film industry, completes 25 years today.

The film marked the debut of genius filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who went to make some pathbreaking films in Tollywood and Bollywood then after. It has been a turning point in the career of Akkineni Nagarjuna, who is well-known for making experiments.

Shiva had a big influence on the youth during the time of it's release. Many youngsters used to roam wearing cycle chains to their hand after the film was released and had inspired many of them to become directors.

The music of Ilayaraja, cinematography by S. Gopal Reddy, the sound design, lighting etc gave a new feel to the audiences, who were fed up with the routine commercial formula films till then. The film paved the way for many more experimental films in Telugu

The film was even listed among the CNN-IBN's 100 greatest Indian films of all time.
