Bollywood cinema is always looked highly upon not only by film buffs but also people within the Kollywood industry. But the gap between India`s biggest industry and Tamil film industry has been shrinking in the recent years and it will be nowhere soon. When it comes to budget out films have already broken the record for being the more expensive Indian films ever than the films of Bollywood super stars who command multi crore international business.

Director Shankar`s upcoming magnum opus starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead role has been produced on a whopping budget of 185 crores INR , which sources say would be the costliest Indian film ever. The film produced V.Ravichandran under the Aascar Films banner is also the most expected Indian film that will hit the screens for this Diwali.

Interestingly I` is not the first Tamil film to dethrone Bollywood films from being the costliest Indian film. Superstar Rajinikanth`s Kochadiiyaan` made with the all new Motion capture technology was made at a cost of 150 cr INR. Another south Indian film is also racing ahead of Hindi films. It is S.S.Rajamouli directed Telugu-Tamil bilingual Baahubali` which is being made at a budget of 175 cr. INR.

So far the costly Bollywood films have been Shah Rukh Khan`s Chennai Express` (130 cr INR), Dhoom 3` (125 cr INR) and Krish 3` (115 cr INR)
