It seems Ilayathalapathi` Vijay`s Kaththi` directed by A.R.Murugadoss will not easily get away from the controversy linked to its production house Lyca Entertainments. The production house considered to be owned by a Sri Lankan who is very close to the SL President Rajapaksha has incurred the ire of Tamil nationalist and Pro-Elam outfits in Tamilnadu.

On Friday, a group of 20 youngsters claiming to be the members of Students Progressive Front, have launched a complaint in the South Indian Film Chamber demanding for a ban on Kaththi` and any other film from Lyca banner. The complainants have said that they cannot allow anything that is against the Sri Lankan Tamils after our brothers were brutally killed in the country`s ethnic war that came to an end in 2009. S.Gowthaman, one among the group said Lyca is planning to produce five more Tamil films apart from Kaththi` and all of them should be banned.

Trouble started brewing for the mega budget venture starring Vijay and Samantha in lead, when people started associating Lyca with Sri Lanka and the Sinahalese Government, in March. The film`s co-producer Ayngaran International and director AR Murugadoss have separately clarified that Lyca has no connection with the Sinhala Government whatsoever and AR Murugadoss has also went on to state that the owner of Lyca is in fact a Lankan Tamil affected by the ethnic war. Despite these clarifications, the protests by the Pro-Elam groups have resurfaced.

Kaththi` is progressing well and it is touted as a grand Diwali release. The question now is whether the film will release as scheduled after successfully laying these protests to rest?
