Myopathy, Institute of Muscular Dystrophy and Research Centre, a unit of Jeevan Foundation is located in Veeravanallur, Tirunelveli district Tamil Nadu. The Focus of the Institute is the prevention and rehabilitate of Muscular Dystrophy in Children.

Actor Karthi Sivakumar took time out of his busy schedule to travel 300 kms and visited Mayopathy Hospital on 18.07.2014 and spent quality time with all the children affected with Muscular Dystrophy. The press release from the centre reveals that the Siruthai` star was more interactive with the kids and was seen singing, dancing and even doing the Jinthaka` act of 'Siruthai' which is a favorite of the kids. The kinds too became so close and started calling him “Karthi anna”. Karthi had taken chocolates with him to give it to every child in the hospital and easily mingled with each of He also delivered warmth and wonderful speech and it touched everyone`s heart. His down to earth self, had food with kids and was posing for the pictures with kids, parents and all the staffs in the Institution. In all he spent three hours making it the most memorable day for all.

The parents of the children at the centre, requested Karthi to spread awareness about this disease He immediately accepted their request and promised to create awareness about Muscular Dystrophy and also the Mayopathy Institute of Muscular Dystrophy & Research Centre.
