Director K.S.Ravikumar is known for wrapping up a film in record time and with his upcoming film Lingaa` that has Superstar Rajinikanth in lead role he is going to retain the pride it seems. The films shoot started on May 2nd and within two months the director has completed shooting 70% of the film.

As we all know as per the story written for the film by director Ponkumaran, the film has pre independence and modern day portions. It is said that the major portions of pre independence era have been shot and the sequences set in the contemporary era is being shot in Hyderabad now.

Scenes that have Rajini, Anushka, Santhanam and Karunakaran are being shot now. This one will be a lengthy schedule and 90% of the film would have been completed by the end of this schedule. After this schedule the remaining 10% will be completed in the last schedule. After that the post production will begin. It is also said that the film include a lot of VFX portions and hence post production work will take time.

The film is slated for release on December 12, 2014 as the Superstar`s Birthday treat to his fans.
