'Mr. Joe B. Carvalho' looks at breaking New Year superstition

18 years back Big B had given break to Arshad Warsi with 'Tere Mere Sapne'. Now the two would be seen clashing with each other in the most unassuming manner as the re-release of 'Sholay' in the 3D version would also see 'Mr. Joe B. Carvalho' running in theatres. Arriving on the very first Friday of the New Year, the two films would be vying for attention of the audience who would be in a festive mood, courtesy a long weekend.
'Mr. Joe B. Carvalho' is a mid-budget film which means even reasonable footfalls would be decent enough for the Arshad Warsi starrer to go past the safety mark. A comic outing, it comes close to 10 months after Arshad delivered his first solo hit with 'Jolly LLB'. The film is primarily a word of mouth affair and if the critical response to it is out and out positive as well, this Samir Tewari directed film can stick on as well.
On the other hand 'Sholay 3D' is a vintage heavy weight and with a sense of nostalgia attached to it, there are good chances of it seeing a respectable chunk of audience. Moreover, novelty of watching the film in 3D should go in its favour too. While the film is being promoted as a 3D affair, it would also be seen in 2D at a good screen count. The makers have spent heavily on the film though which means it would have to run for more than just a week in order to bring back a chunk of moolah.
Meanwhile, it is pretty much expected that 'Dhoom 3' would give competition to both films in its third week as well.
