News has broken out that the leading heroine of the South, Anushka Shetty is in talks to play the title role in the much anticipated 'Chandramuki 2' produced on a grand scale by Sun Pictures.

'Chandramuki' directed by P. Vasu and starring Rajini, Jyotika, Prabhu, Nayanthara, Vadivelu, Nasser, and many others was released in the year 2005 and is one of the highest-grossing films of the Superstar. The sequel was announced last year and pre-production work is currently underway.

'Chandramukhi 2' will be directed by P. Vasu and Raghava Lawrence plays the lead role in the film with the blessings of Rajini. Jyotika's role in 'Chandramuki' was widely talked about and similarly, the sequel too is said to consist a strong female lead character.

Anushka Shetty was initially approached for the film but she declined due to issues with her weight. Now the pretty actress has once again worked out and has regained a slim look and is keen to act in new movies.

It is said that talks have once again been initiated with Anushka and she is on the verge of signing the dotted lines after the script impressed her. Vadivelu recently confirmed that he will be a part of 'Chandramukhi 2' at a recent press conference.
