It is well known that the upcoming film of famous Producers Thirukumaran Entertainments is Thegidi a crime thriller directed by debutante P.Ramesh. In a recent press meet held as part of the audio launch of the film, the director clarified the meaning of the term Thegidi, stating that it is very much a Tamil world that can be found in dictionary and it refers to the games that include gambling and deception.

The director who has won awards in Nalaya Iyakkunar, a famous Television Competition show for short films, revealed the story line of the film. He said that the lead hero of the film (played by Ashok Selvan of Soodhu Kavvum and Villa fame) is a postgraduate in Criminology who joins an IT firm. He uses his criminology skills to get rid of the problems he faces in his job.

Ramesh said that he had a detailed discussion with the professors in Madras University, where graduate courses are offered in Criminology before completing the script. He added that the course includes some lessons that would teach a student to identify the criminals. When the professors refused to divulge about those portions kept as a secret, the director could manage to get only the necessary advice from the Criminology professors, to finalise the background of the story.
