One of the more popular franchises of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings had been banned in 2015 for 2 years following a match-fixing scandal that happened in 2013.
The Dhoni led men in yellow were not just a crowd favorite, but also the crowned champions. However, in 2015, the then team principal Gurunath Meiyappan was found to have been involved in the infamous betting scandal of 2013 IPL. The Super Kings were banned for 2 seasons of IPL. Rajasthan Royals faced the same fate for similar reasons. This brought in two new teams into the league: Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions.
Talking at a function, former BCCI & ICC President and owner of CSK, N Srinivasan had said on Friday that there was every possibility that the Super Kings will be back with a bang in 2018 IPL. He also added that MS Dhoni will be the team's skipper as always.
The first match in the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League starts on the 5th of this month.
