The Producer's Council General Secretary T.Siva and President Kalaipuli S.Thanu have announced that Producers decided to boycott the theaters owners of Chengalpet and other distribution areas who refused to screen Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Theri' that released across the globe yesterday.
Addressing the Media in a joint press meet, Siva and Thanu announced this. "Many Tamil film producers have decided to boycott the theaters that refused to screen 'Theri'. Many of the members could not come here because of the Tamil New Year festival. I am announcing this on their behalf. Especially producer K.E.Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green' has asked me to announce that his upcoming biggies '24' and 'S3' will not be screened in the theaters that did not screen 'Theri'."stated Siva.
Thanu confirmed that his next big production venture 'Kabali' starring Superstar Rajinikanth will also not be screened in theaters that boycotted 'Theri'.
Siva further said that in view of audience comfort and demand the producers may rent the wedding halls and community centers in those areas to screen the films and they will not release the films in these theaters at any cost.
