Nee Jathaga Nenundali Review

After a long hiatus, Sachin Joshi has acted in the film, 'Nee Jathaga Nenudali', in Telugu. This film is a remake of 'Aashiqui 2', the film which has set the cash registers ringing at the Bollywood box-office. Let's see how the Telugu version of the film is.

Raghav Jayaram (Sachin) is a famous rock star, whose career graph is on the wane as he gets addicted to alcohol. At that stage, he meets Gayatri Nandan (Nazia Hussain). Raghav finds a very good singer in Gayatri and promises to make her famous. He stands by his word and with the help of his uncle (Rao Ramesh), he makes Gayatri a big singer. The real problem starts for him then. Everyone starts praising Gayatri and he finds it hard to cope with her success. His alcoholism also escalates. What are the consequences and what does Gayatri do then forms the crux of the story.

Sachin has given a good performance as Raghav Jayaram and when compared to his previous films, he did well in emotional scenes. Nazia's performance is not up to the mark. Rao Ramesh, Sashank and others have done decent jobs.

Coming to technical aspects, though director Jaya Ravindra has directed the movie well, it is not so engaging as he copied the original frame to frame. Only the climax has been changed. The film would have been better, if it is adapted well according to Telugu nativity. Vasanth's cinematography brought richness to the movie. As the tunes are same from the original, there is not much to talk about the music. Chandrabose's lyrics are very good. The production values are also good.

Sachin's improvement as an actor and cinematography are the positives of the film. Nazia's immature performance and and the director's failure to get the audiences out of the 'Aashiqui 2' feel is the main drawback. Those who watched the Hindi film, won't like this film as they would compare both the films. As the same super hit tunes in Bollywood are used here, the audiences get the feeling as if they are watching the original version. Jaya Ravindra should have concentrated much on the nativity.

Verdict : This film may do well in A centres, but will not impress audiences of B, C centres
