Mann

Debutant Pudhiyavan has come out with a romantic tangle in the backdrop of the existing rich-poor divide in Sri Lanka. The movie, shot entirely in the Tamil territories of Northern Sri Lanka, lends insight into the feudal set-up prevalent among the Tamils. Pudhiyavan deserves a pat for making a sincere attempt to throw light on little known issues.

Vagai Chandrasekar lends solidity to the movie and Kadhal Sukumar plans a prominent role in the movie.

Thangiah (Vagai Chandrasekar), who loses his son in civil unrest, leaves the place for Kanakarayankulam in another part of the island nation, along with his wife, and daughter Lakshmi (Sri Lankan actor Shana). Lakshmi's fiance Raja (Kadhal Sukumar) is keen that Lakshmi should be sent to school. He undergoes much hardship to educate her.

Unfortunately, her classmate Ponrasa (Vijith of Sri Lanka) worms his way into Lakshmi's heart. She soon falls for Ponrasa. After two decades, Lakshmi returns to her native. But alas, a rude shock awaits her.

With loads of experience behind him, Vagai Chandrasekhar does an excellent job. His natural ways of acting deserves mention here. A subdued portrayal comes from Sukumar. He has given just the right expressions. Shana is natural.

C J Rajkumar's camera has captured the splendor of the island nation beautifully. Director Pudhiyavan had tried his hand at a serious issue and has emerged a winner.
