Arya's 'Kadamban' and Raghava Lawrence's 'Shivalinga' will be releasing on April 14, 2017 for the Tamil New Year festival. Dhanush's directorial venture 'Pa.Paandi' aka 'Power Paandi' is also in the festival race.
Both Arya and Lawrence are frontline stars and both their films have been made on a huge budget. Both the films releasing on same day is most likely to affect the box office prospects of both the films.
Now it has been revealed that the makers of 'Shivalinga' requested the makers of 'Kadamban' to postpone their release.
In a recent press meet, producer RB Choudhary who has produced 'Kadamban' on a high budget has revealed that 'Shivalinga' makers made request that he could not accommodate.
"Jayam Ravi starrer 'Vanamagan' is scheduled to hit the screens on May 12, 2017. This is also a story of a tribal like our 'Kadamban'. Our film releasing with 'Vanamagan' will lead to unnecessary confusion and conflict. So we could not postpone the release of 'Kadamban'."
