Actor Jayam Ravi's 'Vanamgan' has been scheduled to hit the screens on May 19, 2017 and the censor certification process has been completed with the film obtaining a clean U certificate.

But now the makers have announced that the film's release has been postponed to June 23, 2017.

A press statement from director Vijay who has also produced the film under his Think Big Studios banner states "Though we were ready to release the film on 19th May 2017, Tamil Film Producers Council President Thiru Vishal have advised us not to release the film, as the Tamil film industry is planning for a shut down of new films release and shooting from 30th May, which will leave hardly 11 days for the film in theaters. Even our distributors have cautioned against releasing the film without this clarity on the proposed strike. We are left with no option other than postponing the film's release to June 23, 2017."
