Dhanush and Nayanthara have always been looked at as a great onscreen pair after the super hit Yaradi Nee Mohini` and their friendship has been strong ever since. Nayan even broke her self imposed hiatus to appear in a special item song for Dhanush`s production venture Ethir Neechal`.

There have been whispers that Nayan and Dhanush did not see eye to eye during the making of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan` directed by Vignesh Sivan and have ever since been in a cold war. As if to prove these rumors Dhanush while accepting the Best Feature Film Filmfare Award, went on at length to speak about how Aishwarya Rajesh deserved the Best Actress Award. In her acceptance speech for the Best Actress Award for "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan`, Nayanthara said sorry to Dhanush who apparently hated her role in the film.
