In an interview to a leading Tamil political weekly Gangai Amaran has leveled sensational allegations against his brother Illayaraja and good friend Kamal Haasan, claiming that they both have let him down.
Gangai Amaran apart from being a noted music director and lyricist is also the writer-director of many super hit films like Karagattakaran`, Enga Ooru Paatukaran`, Pandi Naatu Thangam` and Chinnavar` among many others. In the interview he revealed that Illayaraja had challenged him that his Chinnavar` will flop and if the result is otherwise he will never touch the keyboard again. However the film went on to become a hit and Gangai Amaran was committed to direct Kamal Haasan in a film titled Athi Veerapandian`. But Illayaraja had already told Kamal that Chinnavar` was not a good film and had supposedly warned him not to accept the film on account of Amar being his brother. The film was dropped and later on Kamal had said in an interview that the song sequence Santhu Pottu` was Gangai Amaran`s idea. Gangai Amaran claims that his story was in fact lifted and made as Devar Magan` by Kamal.
